MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG (QCC GALA EVENT)

QC Concerts is proud to present MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, our first annual Benefit Gala Performance, on July 13th at the Booth Playhouse at Blumenthal Arts. This production will be directed/music directed by Zachary Tarlton, and be performed script-in-hand with an on-stage orchestra.

Auditions for this production are open to current and past members of the QCC Family: those who have participated in one of our productions as a cast, orchestra, or production team member.

QC Concerts is committed to casting a diverse and unique group of individuals, representative of the vast community that we serve. All ethnicities, identities, and abilities/disabilities encouraged to audition for any role.

Auditions for MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG will be at LUMI School of Musical Theatre:

Date and time to be announced late Spring, 2024.

Rehearsals are scheduled as follows:

June 27th and 30th from 6:30pm-10:00pm

July 1st, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th from 6:30pm-10:00pm

Tech rehearsals with the orchestra will be July 12th (6:30pm-10:00pm) and July 13th (12:00pm-3:00pm) at the Booth Playhouse.

Performance will be Saturday, July 13th at 7:30pm

Those auditioning should prepare 16-32 bars of music from a musical theatre song. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided.

Character Breakdown:

FRANKLIN SHEPARD - His character ranges from an influential songwriter and film producer to an innocent, bright-eyed optimist in NYC. Talented and handsome but misled, tragic, and tormented. (Range A2-Bb4)

CHARLEY KRINGAS - A stubborn, intense man with average looks. He ranges from a successful lyricist and Frank's long-time friend to a bright-eyed optimist creating his own opportunities in NYC. (Range A#2-G#4)

MARY FLYNN - A middle-aged theatre critic. Her character arcs to the youthful, gorgeous 20-something living in NYC with best friend Frank. Sardonic, bitter, and witty. (G3-Gb5)

BETH - A naïve and insecure middle-American who is the mother of Frank's son. She arcs from a down-trodden housewife at her wits end to a hopeless romantic at the beginning of her engagement to the man of her dreams. (A3-G5)

GUSSIE CARNEGIE - The flamboyant, self-invented actress. Her character begins at the end of her relationship with Frank, but throughout the show we see her grow more and more helplessly in love with him. Greedy and seductive. (Range G3-C5)

MEG KINCAID - Starry-eyed starlet who is naïve and ambitious. At the start of the show, she is Frank's newest fling. (Range D4-Gb5)

JOE JOSEPHSON - Big-talking Broadway producer and husband to Gussie. He later becomes pathetic and poor. (Range A2-F#4)
